A version of P. veitchii known as ‘Woodwardii’. Typical for P. veitchii, it makes some side buds. In our photos the shade is redder than average; the photos were taken on an overcast day when the flowers were just opening.

In the picture below, a rose peony seedling is planted, which the following year bloomed with the flowers shown in the accompanying pictures.
